Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to commonly asked questions about the Mango Hill Mavericks Basketball Club and Northern Districts Basketball Association.
Q: Can my child play in multiple divisions?
A: Yes. NDBA clubs have autonomy over which players are nominated for teams and who participates in second games. If a club decides it is safe and does not affect another player’s opportunity, the association will support the club’s decision.
Q: When & Where will training be held?
A: Training times will be determined by court availability, but will generally remain consistent for a team once established. Most sessions will be held in the late afternoon/evening at facilities within the Mango Hill / North Lakes Area.
Q: Who Coaches the Teams?
A: Our club relies on the generosity and participation of volunteers. We strongly encourage parents and older siblings, past players, and those with a passion for developing the next generation, to get involved in coaching. The club provides support to their coaching groups.
If you would like to join the team and volunteer please contact the club manager manager@mangohillmavericks.com
Q: Can my child access Representative Basketball opportunities?
A: NDBA are not yet affiliated with Basketball Queensland (BQ). Club Players may register and trial with other associations, if they have a desire to play at a representative level. NDBA aims to join the BQ Junior Representative pathways soon and are actively working towards this. In the meantime, NDBA will offer opportunities through club competitions, including selection for All-Star teams, additional training sessions, and higher-level games.
We are committed to supporting all players and ensuring they have access to the best development opportunities.
Q: Are you Basketball Queensland Affiliated?
A: NDBA associated clubs are not currently affiliated with Basketball Queensland but we are actively working towards this. This will not affect your playing experience in any way, but means that we are currently unable to offer representative pathways for players who are interested in competing at that level.
Q: Do you have insurance?
A: Yes. All players are covered under insurance held by our association (NDBA).
Q: Can I become a Referee or Game Official?
A: NDBA are always seeking to build our referee pool and game official database so no matter what your level of experience is, we would love you to get involved! We have a referee coordinator and many referee educators who mentor and assist junior referees. If you want to be added to our officials database please make contact with us here…
